PROTOCOL FOR
ORNAMENTAL NURSERY PRODUCTION

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

A. APPLICATION IN NURSERY:
Mix BioVam as an amendment to bedding soils at a rate of 8 lbs ( one gallon) per cubic yard of potting medium.  If seedlings are grown in individual liners or pots.  Each plant should receive approximately 1/2 teaspoon of inoculum per liner, 1 teaspoon per gallon container, 2 teaspoons per 5 gallon container, 3 teaspoons per 15 gallon container or 24 inch box, and 4 teaspoons per container thereafter regardless of size.

Chemical or organic fertilizers may impair the symbiosis and cause unnecessary delay in development of seedlings if added to potting soil when seeds or cuttings are propagated.  Organic materials that are high in fulvic and humic acids are the most advantageous to the symbiosis.

Caution: If you pasteurize your soils, keep in mind that temperatures above 110 F (45 C) may be lethal to the Mycorrhiza in BioVam.

B. FERTILIZER: We recommend monthly of applications of nitrate-based chemical fertilizers, e.g., we recommend Biosol Forte 7-2-1, or an equivalent organic fertilizer. The fertilizer should be applied according to manufacturer's specifications reduced by 1/3.

C. MISCELLANY:
All recommendations about dosage represent a minimum amount.  Increased dosages will add to speed and effectiveness of BioVam's working on the roots of your plants. Streptomyces soil bacteria, tricaderma fungi and other bio-control agents may be introduced through sprinkler injection. Insect control should be achieved by using effective integrated pest control measures (IPM) whenever possible. This means the use of beneficial insects, botanical insecticides or other environmentally sensitive alternatives are recommended.
