HOWEVER!!! I think the focus should also be on the ‘inner cities and rural’ places of this country. In many of these places access to fresh fruits and vegetables are almost non-existent. When they are available in these places its often in supermarkets only… and are usually badly damaged fruits and vegetables almost ‘spoiled’ I’d say.
The following 2 quotes are true from the article:
1) “A third of all families with children have income less than twice the federal poverty line, meaning that affordable family meals are in great demand”.
2) “Six out of 10 families are practicing some form of healthy eating strategy, such as eating more fruits/vegetables, whole grain, and low fat dairy; limiting fats and sugar; reducing portion sizes”.
A lot of Families of low income and even average income CANNOT afford fresh fruits and vegetables, not to mention the NON-Affordability of ‘ORGANIC’ fruits and veggies. Continue Reading »
